On one of the last days of my 365 project I was driving around Wynnum in the afternoon looking for a street that would take me down to the waterfront. I came across this area of Wynnum Creek that is home to a few dozen abandoned boats.
Apparently some of these boats have been there for over 15 years. Many locals don't like them, and there's some noise being made about removing them and restoring the creek to a more visually appealing state.
I found it quite fascinating. The boats were in various states of disrepair, and at low tide most of them were resting at odd angles on the mud. A few of them seemed to be locked up and had possessions inside of them, and at least one of them had a person on it at the time I was there. Perhaps a few owners still keep an eye on their boat, or even live on them. But for the most part they seemed to be rotting and ready to be scrapped.
